Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this position is to accomplish the mission of the Environmental Health Bureau, by administering the three (3) core programs: Food safety, Liquid Waste, and Public Swimming Pools through permitting, inspecting, providing compliance assistance, investigation and enforcement of state regulations



This position is a Pay Band 70.

Environmental Scientist & Specialist Operational



Minimum Qualifications




Bachelor's Degree in Physical, Natural, or Environmental Science, Soil Science, or Engineering and two (2) years of work experience in public/environmental health, environmental science, Air Quality Management, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Hazardous Waste Management, Wildlife Management, and/or Water Resources. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.



Employment Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Working Conditions:

Work is Performed in both an office setting and outdoors, with considerable travel to field locations, to permit, inspect, investigate or enforce Food, Liquid Waste, and Swimming Pool regulations. This position has extensive daily,public contact. The primary work schedule is Monday -Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Occasional weekend work may be required.
