Purpose of Position:

Position will provide supervision and leadership to surveyors. Incumbent will perform surveys and investigations of Nursing Homes and Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IIDs) to determine their level of compliance with State and Federal regulations.


This position is a Pay Band 85.

Classification Description

Registered Nurse Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree in Nursing or graduation from a NLN accredited program accepted by the New Mexico Board of Nursing and three (3) years paid experience as a Registered Nurse. All applicants for this position must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act 61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20 NMAC, as applicable.

Employment Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) training. Complete surveyor on-the job training. Must successfully pass the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) within the first year of employment. Must complete Intermediate Care Facilities for Individual with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) training.

Statutory Requirements:

All applicants for this position must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act 61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20 NMAC, as applicable. You must include your license or certificate number in the "License" section of the application form.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office setting, in long term care facilities and in Intermediate Care Facilities for Individual with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID), with extensive computer and phone usage. Extended periods of driving and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds may be required. Extensive in-state travel with frequent overnight stays averaging one week at a time, and occasional out-of-state travel is required. Reimbursable out of pocket expenses may be incurred.
