Purpose of Position:

The Policy and Accountability Manager is responsible for the overall strategic management of the Aging and Long-Term Services Department (ALTSD). This position works closely with the Office of the Secretary and the Directors of Adult Protective Services, Consumer and Elder Rights, Aging Network, Administrative Services, and Information Technology Divisions in planning for providing leadership and vision for achieving the short and long-term goals of the ALTSD. This position leads strategic planning, performance measurement, quality assurance, and reporting practices to ensure timely and reliable monitoring in adherence to federal and state statutes, regulations and policies including, but not limited to, the Older Americans Act, the New Mexico Administrative Code and ALTSD policies and procedures. This requires close provision, integration, and development of planning and quality assurance across complex, diverse programs with a multitude of compliance requirements and policy needs. The assurance of strategic objectives are delivered through relevant strategies and processes to optimize ALTSD's organizational effectiveness.


This position is a Pay Band 85.

Minimum Qualifications




A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a light strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include management, supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.


Employment Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office setting with long periods of sitting and exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. This position occasionally requires lifting up to 25 lbs. Overtime, weekend work and travel will be required.
