Production Process Technologist (Experienced)

This job posting is for a Neutron Generator (NG) Production Process Technologist. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the quality of assigned processes and be the primary technical interface to the production operators. The NG process technologists will work closely with the NG process engineers to ensure a technical understanding of the processes and expected results, recognizing product requirement deviations, troubleshooting and determining an effective solution. The successful candidate will be expected to monitor process health and identify ways to increase yields, decrease variability, decrease span time and mistake proof. They will recommend corrective or preventive actions to assure or improve product quality and may be responsible for their implementation. NG production process technologists will have responsibility for maintaining written work instructions and ensure operators are properly trained in their execution.

The successful candidate may be involved with new process/equipment development and qualification, maintain programs associated with automated production equipment, implementing new manufacturing technologies or equipment on the production floor.

+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical or a closely related science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline; or equivalent combination of related education and relevant experience
+ Able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-Level security clearance


+ Experience working in a production environment
+ Experience with product realization processes and process development
+ Experience in providing technical support to manufacturing or development operations.
+ Systems oriented person able to maintain production activities, and identify/overs associated risks
+ Ability to conduct analyses as needed to optimize the manufacturing processes to balance quality, responsiveness and pre-defined metrics
+ Demonstrated capability to learn the technical aspects of manufacturing processes in order to apply integrated technical judgment as required to anticipate, innovate, and deliver solutions
+ Demonstrated capability to monitor process health by identifying effective metrics, collecting, and analyzing data, and presenting results
+ Demonstrated capability to successfully multi-task across multiple projects
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
+ Willingness to actively participate in Lean Six Sigma program
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment that includes operators, technical staff, team leaders, and other technologists
+ A commitment to a culture of safety and security
+ Basic knowledge of design for manufacturing
+ Active DOE, Q-Level security clearance

Department Description:

NGSA and ELNG Value Stream

The Neutron Generator Subassembly (NGSA) and Electronic Neutron Generator (ELNG) Value Stream Department (2566) develops, qualifies, and integrates state-of-the-art technologies to realize a broad range of components and related subassemblies used in the design, development, and production of neutron generators for the NSE. We deploy technical leadership in various engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, materials science, industrial, and electrical) to identify, develop and mature technology solutions using demonstrated rigorous product and process realization methodologies. Our capabilities range from component assembly and fabrication, abrasive blasting/cleaning, inspection, laser welding and marking, soldering, encapsulation, final dimensioning and machining, x-ray radiography, thermal spraying, conformal coating, environmental conditioning, and functional testing.

Integrated planning for product realization, manufacturability, and certification of neutron generators and neutron generator-related products enables us to meet the needs of our customers and the security of the nation. Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
