Purpose of Position:

This position directly supervises psychiatric technicians, conducts on-going training, identifies and analyzes problems and provides direct fundamental basic nursing care that may include, helping patients to bathe, use the bathroom, and maintain clean living areas, as well as administer medications to patients throughout the medical center. A current Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate from the State of New Mexico is preferred at the time of hire. Unit is Forensic and shift is 11 pm until 7 am.

This position is a Pay Band 50.

Classification Description

Psychiatric Technician Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and six (6) months of paid direct patient care or correctional officer experience.

Employment Requirements:

This position is designated a safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to nationwide background search, and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). A current Certified Nursing Certificate from the State of New Mexico.

Statutory Requirements:

Must possess or obtain within 4 months of employment, a current Certified Nursing Certificate from the State of New Mexico as a continued condition of employment.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a hospital setting with exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable potentially violent behavior. Some bending, reaching pushing and/or pulling a maximum force 20-50 pounds and co-lifting and/or transferring patients with an average weight of one-hundred fifty (150) pounds may be required. Exposure to infectious diseases. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus.
