Senior Instrument / Electrical Engineer

* Summary*
Provides electrical engineering support to ensure reliable operations of refinery's electrical power distribution system. Performs condition monitoring, troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis and project support. Identifies long-term improvement opportunities.
* Key Responsibilities*
* Supports controls systems modernization projects and capital projects through involvement in control system specifications, hardware and software design, testing, commissioning, training, and documentation.
* Provides electrical engineering technical support to refinery departments. Troubleshoots and resolves electrical-related issues. Assists in design of high and low voltage electrical systems. Monitors electrical power distribution system. Maintains baseline appraisals of electrical capacity, identifying load flows, problem areas and areas of excess capacity. Monitors critical equipment analysis to identify reliability improvement opportunities.
* Provides support through all phases of capital and expense projects. Participates in technical reviews to ensure detailed electrical engineering meets design specifications, codes and engineering standards. Assists team in Project Execution stage in completion of detailed design, construction and installation of facilities and equipment.
* Provides engineering support for investigations on adverse incidents involving electrical system disturbances and electrical equipment failures. Ensures refinery compliance with Process Safety Management and Management of Change (MOC).
* In conjunction with other engineers and Maintenance, assists in design and implementation of reliability-centered maintenance programs for critical electrical equipment. Advocates benefits of reliability practices and fosters integration into plant operations. Works with electricians and E&I technicians. Reviews procedure manuals for technical adequacy.
* Supports Alarm Management
* Administrates "Master Instrument Index/Files
* Supports Process Engineering
* Develops and Provides Training to the Instrumentation and Electrical Group.
* Experience and *EDUCATION**
* Minimum undergraduate degree in electrical or instrumentation engineering required.
* Minimum 10 years electrical/instrument engineering experience in refining industry required.
* Physical Requirements*
* Seeing: Must be able to read reports and use computers.
* Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers.
* Talking: Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of spoken words.
* Sitting: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
* Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must be able to stand to open files and operate office machines. Must maintain mobility between departments and to attend meetings of employees and managers.
* Bending/Reaching/Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to bend, reach, or stoop to obtain office supplies and operate office equipment.
* Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Moderate physical effort under 25 pounds.
* Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Major portions of daily work require application of manual skills involving motor coordination and finger dexterity.
* Must comply with OSHA Respiratory Protection guidelines and the company respiratory protection program which includes a medical evaluation and fit test to determine the ability to wear a respirator. Must be able to don appropriate respiratory equipment to protect the employee whenever respirators are required.
