Purpose of Position:

This position will manage and coordinate forestry related projects and support programs within the New Mexico Forestry Division, which include the following: federal grant writing, grant review, Stewardship program, Urban Forestry program, Tree Farm Program, Forest and Health Watershed program along with providing technical forestry assistance for private landowners and other collaborative partners.



This position is a Pay Band 65.

Forester Advanced



Minimum Qualifications




Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Range Management, Forest Management, Natural Resources, Wildlife Science, Fire Science or Ecology and three (3) years of experience in Forestry, Range Management, Forest Management, Natural Resources, Wildlife Science, Fire Science and/or Ecology. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.



Employment Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico drivers license.

Working Conditions:

Being able to hike for long periods, driving off road vehicles, specialized fire equipment and operating chainsaws, operating office equipment and computer software associated with this equipment. Extensive travel and work in rough terrain. Work irregular or extended hours. Exposure to a variety of weather conditions including wildfire management activities.
