Technical Project Manager-Missile Defense Agency Advanced Target

We are seeking a technical project manager to join a multidisciplinary team as the project manager for advanced target systems for the Missile Defense Agency. This individual will lead the design, development, manufacturing, integration, testing and fielding of the Missile Defense Agency's next generation target systems. This individual will apply technical engineering skills to lead development of new technologies for the system utilizing STEM based R&D. This person will also support the project management needed to lead the effort through its various development phases.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Identify, plan and execute efforts for the development, manufacturing, integration
+ and fielding of advanced target systems.
+ Lead technical team members to understand and define the work to be completed.
+ Brainstorm with technical team members to develop and implement new ideas for system advancement.
+ Build and work with new teams from across Sandia to address specific needs.
+ Collaborate with DoD, FFRDC, and contractor partners to support the development and fielding of next-generation missile defense targets
+ Develop and implement technical risk mitigation strategies
+ Document customer expectations, define performance requirements, and work with the technical team to assure all expectations and requirements are met.
+ Work with a project management team to understand cost, schedule, performance, and risk to strategize path forward within Sandia and advocate for technical approaches with the sponsor and stakeholders.


+ Bachelor's and advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in STEM field.
+ 10 or more years overall post-graduate relevant work experience in science, engineering, or technical program management.
+ 3 or more years' experience working with DoD acquisition programs as government, industry, or FFRDC/UARC representative
+ Experience as program manager of a technical program.
+ Current and active DOE L-level security clearance (or equivalent) with the ability to obtain and retain Top Secret/Q security clearance with SCI, which will require a polygraph examination.


+ Master's degree in physics, mechanical, aeronautical, or electrical engineering.
+ PMP certification or equivalent Defense Acquisition certification.
+ Experience with rocket target systems (such as for Missile Defense Agency missions).
+ Experience with missile technologies and systems (to include but not limited to boosters, guidance, re-entry vehicles, etc.).
+ Current and active Top Secret SCI security clearance.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a SCI security clearance.

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.
